Pre-Manufactured Community/Commercial Safe Rooms
The NSSA prefers to use the terminology Community/Commercial when referring to tornado shelters that are used for public and private use by businesses (not Residential use) as defined in the ICC/NSSA 500 –2014 Standard and the FEMA P-361 criteria for Community Tornado Shelters. The term Community/Commercial best describes the real world applications for non-residential tornado shelters.
Pre-Manufactured Advantages

  • Flexibility – Can serve multiple purposes and provide storm protection
    • Archive Storage – Communications Control Rooms – Equipment Rooms
  • Mobility – Ability on most models to be relocated to help expansion or new locations
  • Wide Variety – Sizes, construction materials and accessories such as heating, cooling, and lavatories.
  • Adaptability – Can normally be added on to or connected to an additional tornado shelters.
