Inspector Members - Inspector Members are qualified persons employed or retained by an approved agency and approved by building officials you contract with, to have the competency necessary to inspect a particular type of installation and construction involving tornado shelter standards, building codes and guidelines. Inspections are required for various aspects of installation and or construction depending on the type of tornado shelter, Residential or Community, and whether it is pre-manufactured or site built.
Special Inspections shall be provided for construction and installation of materials in Community/Commercial tornado shelter with greater than 50 occupants, as required by the authority having jurisdiction in accordance with the applicable building code and Section 106.3 of the ICC 500 2014 Standard and Commentary.
Education Note - The NSSA will respond to any comments or requests from inspectors or the approved agencies that employ them regarding compliance with ICC 500 Standard and the FEMA P-361 guidelines. If training inspectors for compliance is needed please contact the NSSA and we will try and address your needs.
Inspector Membership Dues - $100 / Due December 31st each year.
